About

Social Computing has to do with designing computational systems that accommodate the social practices that are a fundamental part of the ways humans work, live and play. We believe that such systems can make our computationally mediated interactions both more effective and more pleasurable.

The Social Computing Group is an interdisciplinary team whose skills range from visual and interaction design to systems architecture and implementation, with backgrounds in AI, computer science, linguistics and the social sciences. We also believe that service is important, and we contribute to our professional societies through activities ranging from reviewing to organizing to managing.
