    Developing Nations Case Writing Competition Winners

    The NextBillion team is pleased to announce the winners of the 2010 case writing competition. Cases were submitted from schools and organizations all over the world. The cases are in the process of being formally published through the William Davidson Institute at the University of Michigan and will be available shortly online (http://www.globalens.com) and in booklet form.

    Nokia offers $125k prize to build “uniquely African”mobile phone application. Deadline is Nov 15.

    We’re inviting all mobile and web application developers to create best-in-class applications to run on Nokia devices. This competition is aimed at the development of applications relevant to Africa. Whether it’s wallpapers or widgets, if it’s bold and brilliant and African then submit your content now!

    We’re looking for applications that are as uniquely African as bunny chow and biltong are and ones which will add value to the lives of the Africans who use it.

    CITRIS is doing another round of their student competition:

    CITRIS is proud to announce the fourth annual CITRIS White Paper competition, which will give away $30K in cash prizes for the best ideas that demonstrate the ability of IT to address a major societal challenge. The IT for Society contest is open to students from all four CITRIS campuses: UC Berkeley, UC Merced, UC Santa Cruz, and UC Davis. (more)
